The Mississippi Wildlife Federation is a federation of individuals, businesses, and organizations committed to natural resource conservation. Volunteers are the backbone of the Federation and we offer many volunteer opportunities, from serving as a board member to helping with events. Please review the volunteer information below and join us in the wonderful cause of wildlife conservation.
Volunteer for an Event
We host several events throughout the year that contribute greatly to our success. We have opportunities to volunteer for administrative duties, outdoor training for youth, event assistance, as well as others. No matter your age or experience, we can use your talent and skills!
Become a Habitat Steward
The Habitat Stewards program supports the management and conservation of public lands in coastal Mississippi. The program provides up to 24 hours of training on local restoration, habitat management, and human dimensions of habitat management in a series of classes and field experiences. The volunteers are then matched with a land steward based on land management needs and volunteer interests.
Become a Stream Steward
The Adopt-A-Stream program offers over 3 decades of experience in protecting Mississippi waterways. As a Stream Steward, you will learn the conservation needs our state’s streams and have the opportunity to participate at your level of availability and skill. Stream Stewards do seasonal litter pickups, storm drain marking, streamside management and restoration, advocacy work, or any number of other activities that protect and restore Mississippi’s waters.
There are two ways to volunteer with AAS. You can volunteer as an individual Stream Steward, or your group of Stream Stewards may become a Stream Team by adopting a stream or river in your area.
Board and/or Committee Volunteer
Our board and committee members are leaders of conservation in Mississippi and contribute greatly to the success of MWF. Becoming a board member requires a 3 year commitment and regular participation. You are not required to be a board member to participate on one of our committees. Please complete the form below to submit as either a board or a committee member.
